Understanding ISO 9000 and its software industry implications"

in view of software development, its management and sales.

Workshop Description:

This workshop informs company officials about the ISO 9000:2000 series of standards and explains, in management terms, the impact on software development organizations.

The cost and benefits of ISO 9001 verses other software process standards/models (like ISO 12207, ISO 15504 and SEI SW-CMM) are discussed.  Primary focus is on business trends and management issues related specifically to ISO 9000 in the software industry.

On completion of this workshop, participants will have sufficient knowledge to forecast a budget/schedule and to decide whether ISO 9000 is worth pursuing for their software organization.

Workshop Goals:


1. Obtain a basic understanding of the ISO 9000 series of standards (1994 edition).
2. Learn the ISO 9000 registration process including the role of registrars and accreditation bodies.
3. Discover a typical approach, costs, schedule and benefits of implementing an ISO 9000 compliant quality system for software development.
4. Discover who in the software industry is getting registered.
5. Separate myths from fact.
