Workshop Description:

Defining your software processes is the key first step towards software business improvement.  It is the starting point towards ensuring repeatability of your successes and improving your operational alignment with business/market objectives.

This workshop is designed for organizations desiring to:
-- define their software processes for the first time
-- evolve/tailor their processes for specific business/project needs

On completion of this workshop, participants will have drafted a software life cycle framework for their specific organization/project.  In addition, participants will be well equipped with the knowledge needed to complete the analysis and definition of their organization's software processes.

1. Identify the general categories and components of software processes.
2. Learn various software life cycle frameworks and process modelling methods.
3. Learn how to assemble a tailored framework to project characteristics.
4. Examine the fundamentals of ISO 12207 and discover the value of aligning your software processes to this international standard.
5. Discover how software process capability maturity models, such as ISO 15504 (SPICE) and SEI SW-CMM, can sway your definition efforts.
6. Identify appropriate deliverables, scope, templates and content guides for key processes.
7. Discover ways to incorporate process flexibility and encourage development creativity.
